Annett Zinsmeister is working at the interface of art, architecture and media theory. The starting point of her multi-layered projects are mostly photographs of architectural elements such as facades of prefabricated buildings. The artist uses her documentary photographs as modules from which she constructs new spatial situations. From the façade image to the wallpaper as façade and from the wallpaper façade to the space installation, the works conquer existing spaces that become lined real or virtually and transformed into immersive walk-in installations. With this approach the artist creates real and at the same time fictional spaces in which an interior and exterior, a top and bottom can no longer be distinguished.
